What: Track & field activities tailored towards children with special needs

Founded to empower kids to leave their medical challenges at the starting line, Courageous Kids Invitational partners these children and their siblings with BYU athletes for an evening where everyone is an athlete. From sprinting races to long jump to Michael’s Mile, every moment is about celebrating courage, inclusion, and endless possibility.
Families can register now. Volunteers, sponsors, and supporters are warmly welcomed—whether through donations, sponsorships, or hands-on help. Every contribution helps make the magic of Courageous Kids Invitational possible.
Adaptive Track & Field Events: Children and their siblings can participate in a range of adapted activities including 100m, 200m, 400m, and the special “Michael’s Mile,” along with field events like long jump, high jump, shot put, discus, and javelin.
Athlete Pairings: Each Courageous Kid is paired with a collegiate athlete who tailors each event to meet the child’s unique abilities, ensuring every child can shine on their own terms.
Dinner & Awards: Guests enjoy a light dinner—think sandwiches, chips, fruit, and cookies—served between approximately 6:00–7:00 PM, followed by an uplifting awards ceremony complete with custom medals and event t-shirts
The Courageous Kids Invitational track and field event is a beacon of inclusivity and empowerment. Held annually at BYU in the fall, this event transforms the Robison Outdoor Track into a vibrant arena where children showcase their abilities and determination. Volunteers, coaches, and families come together to create a supportive environment where every child can participate in various track and field activities tailored to their abilities. From sprinting with beaming smiles to cheering on peers, the event celebrates each child’s unique strengths and achievements, fostering a sense of pride and camaraderie among participants. It’s a day filled with joy, encouragement, and the sheer exhilaration of overcoming challenges, leaving an indelible mark of inspiration and inclusiveness for all involved.
